But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children.
-Psalm 103:17
Dear Friend of Be Broken,
You may know our mission. It is sprinkled into everything we do: To help men, women, and families move from sexual brokenness to wholeness in Christ – and equip others to do the same. But our mission only serves our vision, which is:
To See God’s People Whole and Holy
To highlight what this vision looks like in real life, and to invite you to consider financial partnership, I want to introduce you to Freddie and Norma Brown and their family. They connected with Be Broken two years ago. I interviewed them because they are a wonderful example of what we hope for when families get intentional about God’s design for sex and pursuing wholeness in Christ.
Here are the questions with their answers*:
When did you first connect with Be Broken?
When we heard John Fort speak at a Homeschool Conference. We appreciated his candid approach to discussing sensitive topics like sex and sexuality, which is rarely seen in many Christian settings. After one of the sessions, Freddie and John connected to go through the Father/Son Web seminar.
What about Be Broken and the content you received made you want to connect further?
We love Be Broken’s genuine desire to help people experience God’s freedom in the area of sexual brokenness. While Family Care focuses primarily on prevention and education, it also includes an important aspect for parents to pursue wholeness. The Honest Talk book encourages parents to reflect on and confront their own biases and brokenness regarding sexuality.
We have one child who tends to be more reserved, and the Just Between Us journal has been an excellent tool for helping us connect and share in a meaningful way.
The Father/Son Seminar is another excellent resource that has greatly benefited our family. As a result of this Father/Son seminar, an emotional core log has been implemented and used to discuss feelings and emotions related to various life circumstances, including sexuality.
The PSR podcast is extremely valuable, offering outstanding insights on a wide range of topics that promote spiritual and emotional growth.
What have you learned about God's design for sex/sexuality that was new or fresh?
While many resources offer great information, that’s often where it stops—just information. What sets Be Broken apart is its emphasis on building a strong bond with your child and becoming a safe, approachable person for them–fostering transparency for the whole family.
One of our core values is to be "grace-based in our approach." How have you experienced this value in your interactions with Be Broken staff and content?
We've seen a grace-based approach in John Fort (Director of Training). He doesn’t present himself as an expert but instead remains open to ideas and suggestions. Matt (Development Director) is always willing to pray and often reaches out with a personal text or message. Be Broken as a whole demonstrates a genuine openness to advancing the gospel, with a clear understanding that grace is a key component of God’s work.
In what ways have you and your family grown in wholeness and holiness as a result of better understanding God's design for sex and emotional growth?
Our family has grown tremendously in our understanding of God’s design for sex and emotional development. Be Broken has equipped us with excellent tools to foster emotional growth and engage in meaningful discussions. With three children, each with their own unique communication style and level of comfort, these resources have helped us connect with them in ways that suit their individual needs.
Thank you for partnering in our vision to see God’s people Whole and Holy. Better Together!
